This is my third Sonicare toothbrush. The first one (10+ years ago) was as subtle as a bulldozer but it gave me a dentist grade cleaning every day until it died after five years of loyal service. The second one (now 5 years old) still works, but the company stopped making the replacement heads for it.



The E5500 is great! The new format of brush head is much smaller than what I was using before. The quadrant timer is better, the ergonomics are better and the price is MUCH better! I didn't think it was possible, but Sonicare made a great product even better! I'm looking forward to another five years of service!

Great price for a great toothbrush. Not the top of the line model, but does everything I need. Only thing missing is the "remaining charge meter" on handle, so you don't know exactly how much charge is left. For this price you can get two and always have one on stand by. Also worth noting, the brush from other models do fit this one too.

I recently recieved this brush through amazon. Wow, what a diffrence i can see already. After waiting the recomended 24 hour charge time i used my brush and it was one of the deepest cleans i have gotten since i went to the dentist.



I am a chewer, and from that i have some stains on my front teeth that i have always hated. After using this tooth brush only three times i see a difference in not only teeth color (much whiter) but also gum health. My gums are becoming healthier with every use.



Some things to be ready for:



1) The brush head is very small for my mouth, it is perfect for someone with small teeth and a small mouth. I wish the brush head was a little bigger.



2) It tickles at first. Very much so. I didnt have any problem with it realy but it did make me laugh a little when i did the back of my front teeth. This tooth brush will progressivly get stronger over 12 uses. I think this feature is nice because if you have never used one before it can be a bit much at first.



3) Make sure you turn it on when its in your mouth and turn it off before you take it out. I had to clean my mirror three times so far because the vibrations sling toothpast every where lol.



All in all this is the first sonic toothbrush i have ever used, but because of the results i have seen so far and the price i am now a sonic user for life.

This is a great product. I grew up with a Sonicare in the house, but through college just used manual toothbrushes. The Sonicare Flexcare is even better than the originals! I tried my friend's electric toothbrush (competitor's equivalent) and I am a MUCH greater fan of the Sonicare. i've used Sonicare toothbrushes for years, on advice from my dental hygeinist long ago, and could never go back to regular manual brushing. I've tried it, i just can't get my teeth as clean feeling. I used the Braun initially, i liked it, no complaints. This was many years ago. Then i tried the Sonicare, i loved how it left my teeth feeling.



There were a few things i didn't like about the Sonicare. The main one, the worst thing, was the gunk that would build up inside the brush head, no matter how i tried to avoid it. It was high maintenance to keep it clean inside, and despite those efforts, periodically i would throw them away and get a new one because they became so nasty and i couldn't get my fingers into all the places where the gunk built up to clean it out. Needless to say, it was expensive to have to replace the whole toothbrush, maybe once a year or more, even though it still worked ok.

i think this was really the only thing i didn't like about that toothbrush--it was the Elite series model. It was still worth it to me to replace them. I get plack inside my teeth, that's why the hygienist recommended the Sonicare in the first place, and it really helps to reduce that, much better than using an old fashioned non electronic toothbrush.



So--when i saw this new flex care model from Sonicare, i had to buy one on the spot even though i had come to the store (Bed Bath and Beyond)(coupons in hand) to just buy new brushes for my old Sonicare. I love how it's smaller and easily fits in the hand, it's light, and it's very powerful. It looks less obtrusive than the Elite. But best of all, it's designed in a way so that there is no way for the brush to get any built up nasty gunk inside it. It's a simple small brush design that fits over the end of the handle, no mechanical parts, no dark damp compartment where things can grow. And the sterilizer is nice too.



It's clear enough that the Sonicare company wanted to make an advance in the quality of this product with this new design. One of the known downfalls of this kind of tooth brush has been accumulation of bacteria and the dreaded gunk. I had searched the web for some kind of solution to this and found that it was a common problem. It's hard for me to imagine now how this design could be improved on.



as another review said, this tooth brush should be used with a very light touch, lightly holding the brush up against the teeth, the brush moves very fast and pressing down very hard will just interfere with what it does so well. I find this difficult, i tend to want to press down more than is necessary. I think it's probably not good for the motor. But habitually i've tended to press down more than what would be best. Again, it needs to be just lightly held against the surface of the tooth. My hygienist told me this.

I am ok with it as my 6-year old electric toothbrush (Sonicare too) finally gave up on me. I thought the one I just got would be 6 year technologically more advanced: great size indeed, the battery is a good as the old one: excellent duration: over 3 weeks between charges. When I insert the brush head, it doesn't go all the way to the bottom, a little gap stays in between it and the brush itself. I hope that's a glitch of the brush head and not of the body, otherwise, this will be a lemon.

Several of the comments have said that the buttons on the front get bumped too easily and you find yourself changing brushing modes even when you don't want to. I suppose if you grip the toothbrush in a closed fist that could happen. It's never happened to me, as I grip it lightly down the side grip pads. Another comment said there was a concern with mold in the UV unit. For that to happen there has to be standing water. I always dry the toothbrush off before putting it back on the stand - no mold issues. This is not my first Sonicare. I switched because I was tired of the gunk in the area where the toothbrush meets the handle. This one doesn't do that. I haven't decided yet how useful the sanitizer is, since it kills invisible stuff I think it's there to make you feel like your toothbrush is cleaner. Overall, it was definitely worth the upgrade.

I don't know why the Sonicare toothbrush doesn't just come with 2 compact brush heads. I have a pretty big mouth, and I have to say that the compact brush head is much better than the standard brush head. I can maneuver it in much harder to reach places way easier, and to me it seems to do a much better job at cleaning my teeth. This is just my opinion, and some people may prefer the standard brush head, but I must say the compact head is the best for me. I'm glad they carry them on Amazon because I could not find them at any brick and mortar retailers.

I have been using the Sonicare line for years now, and every time I upgrade I feel like I have the greatest toothbrush in the world (just upgraded to this model recently). I am prone to cavities but when properly using my toothbrush twice a day, I feel like I cut the chances of cavities occurring by more than half. I also have dental work on my front teeth which catches plaque and tartar like a trap, but those teeth always feel squeaky clean after a good brushing.



The battery life is good, the size and weight make the brush easy to handle, and even the bristles feel like high quality to me. When I began using Sonicare toothbrushes I noticed the yellowing and stains on my teeth from coffee and cigarettes slowly disappearing. The noise is not terribly unpleasant but most people walking by your bathroom will know you are brushing your teeth. The vibration can take some getting used to but it's not jarring after the first several uses.



I recommend the Sonicare line to all my friends and family. I wasn't too keen on brushing my teeth as a kid but the 'after-a-dentist-visit-clean' feeling helps me look forward to brushing these pearly whites!

The lubricant feels good and doesn't dry out like water-based lubricants but even with soap and hot water is difficult to clean off. Liquid soap seems to work better than a bar.......

I had tried the water based from PJUR and also the KY and ASTRO GLIDE branded lubes. So much better than all the water based ones and much more useable. I will admit the feel here is much diffrent and it will take some time to get used to the correct quantity of lube needed for your endevor. It is very slick and almost invisible except that now the friction is gone...walla...2 or 4 drops and your good to go...but really start with a little and go up if you need to this stuff is very effective. Alright, I'm going to be upfront. You need something that works and lasts... and after I found this baby, it's all that I'll ever used. It's versatile (in/out of water, with or without condom) works wonderfully and you only need a drop or two. After trying this out, I threw out everything else. Also, it doesn't make a mess. You don't need to be squirting it everywhere -- just a drop where and when you need it. It is pricey compared to other lubes, but it lasts a lot longer and you'll be thankful that you downed the extra money for it.......

Used this for the first time tonight for vaginal sex using a condom. This is the best lube I have used to date. After having a less than stellar experience with a store brand KY-style lube (I have also used WET and ForPlay brand lubricants), I set out to find a better lube. I went to the local adult shop and I was overwhelmed with the selection of lubes. Lubes are kind of expensive so I didn't want to just go through a trial and error process and, more importantly, I didn't want my next sexual encounter to fall short because of bad lube. So I searched online looking for reviews or comments about lubes and came across several recommending Liquid Silk and even the staple of lube--Astroglide. But the lube that seemed to be most consistently and highly praised was Pjur Eros Original Silicone Lubricant. I purchased this lube and it was great. This is a silicone-based lube; prior to this I had only used water-based lubricants, which dry out over time and need to be re-applied and can become sticky and tacky. With this Pjur lube I applied a few drops on the outside of the condom and that was it. I did not need to reapply once and the lube seems to mix well with my partner's natural lubrication. Literally it was "set it and forget it", in other words once the lube was applied it, I did not have to think about lube at all. Another thing which I found out in my search for lubes is that some water-based lubes use glycerin which apparently can increase the chances of your partner getting a yeast infection. Bottom line: is this the best lube on the market? I don't know (though many say it is), but it worked wonderfully for me using a condom and I would without a doubt say if you use condoms you should try it (Probably good without a condom too but I haven't tried it). This is my new lube of choice.......
