I don't find the toothbrush too loud. It is louder than a battery-operated model, but it also cleans much better too.

We have used Sonicare for years and when I broke mine, I decided to get the new Sonicare essence. When I got home I discovered it only had one charger for two tooth brushes. My wife and I have separate bathrooms, so just one charger for the both of us is clearly inadequate. The new unit does not fit on our old charger stands--obviously a case of deliberate obsolescence. I will se if they sell the charger separately. If I cannot buy an extra charger, I shall take my purchase back and, I suppose go to a different type of tooth brush. What were they thinking? Two units should have two chargers!

This two handle pack is less expensive than buying two separate ones. It really cleans my teeth! It is noticeably better than my old OralB unit. The auto shutoff and 30 second warnings are something you have have to get used to. Eventually you can develop some sort of rhythm with the brush so you are not halfway done when it decides to shutoff. Very good buy.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but there are three of us in our family, so I purchased this two-handle pack as well as a single pack separately. They are all flex care systems. The single brush has a different colored handle (more like a mint-green and white) while the two pack is the light blue and white. The single brush I purchased (the green flex care brush 6910) is just fine. Quiet works great & my son loves it!! The two-pack has something seriously wrong with it. The brushes are both SO LOUD that you dread brushing your teeth. I get up very early and feel like I'm waking the entire house when I brush my teeth. My sons brush (the single) makes no where near the kind of sounds mine does. Funny thing is, the second brush in this two-pack does the same thing!! Defect? Not sure... I've written a note to Philips Sonicare asking about any issues.... I'll post again when I get the scoop. Does a great job, but the noise is incredible!



**UPDATE** I was finally able to reach customer service for the SoniCare and they first suggested that I replace the brush head (which is brand new... 1 month). That didn't help, so they suggested I return it --- but, silly me, I don't have the box anymore, so I'm stuck with one NOISY toothbrush. Well, at least my teeth are clean!

Was debating this one or the Ral-B and definitely made a good decision with sonicare. First off - this one is great for a couple because it has 2 units. Second, the ultraviolet cleaning thing is a nice side dish.



Most important, the toothbrush works great! Just don't put too much toothpaste on it or it foams up out of your mouth.

Although you only get one charger for both toothbrushes, they work great. i dont really like the timer system when brushing. i usually brush longer than the timer system. so it cuts off and i have to turn it back on again. other than that, good price for both and the carrying case is very nice.

This brush is the best in quality and performance that you can get. We've owned these brushes for almost three years. Our teeth and gums are much healthier. This brush works so well, that I can't find a complaint about it. This brush cleans your teeth without having to scrub too hard and damage your gums. The Sonicare makes the Rota-dent(a brush alot of dentists try to promote) seem like something you purchased at the dollar store. This is a great product. I grew up with a Sonicare in the house, but through college just used manual toothbrushes. The Sonicare Flexcare is even better than the originals! I tried my friend's electric toothbrush (competitor's equivalent) and I am a MUCH greater fan of the Sonicare. It's lightweight and small, so you avoid the feeling like your putting a powertool in your mouth.

i've used Sonicare toothbrushes for years, on advice from my dental hygeinist long ago, and could never go back to regular manual brushing. I've tried it, i just can't get my teeth as clean feeling. I used the Braun initially, i liked it, no complaints. This was many years ago. Then i tried the Sonicare, i loved how it left my teeth feeling.



There were a few things i didn't like about the Sonicare. The main one, the worst thing, was the gunk that would build up inside the brush head, no matter how i tried to avoid it. It was high maintenance to keep it clean inside, and despite those efforts, periodically i would throw them away and get a new one because they became so nasty and i couldn't get my fingers into all the places where the gunk built up to clean it out. Needless to say, it was expensive to have to replace the whole toothbrush, maybe once a year or more, even though it still worked ok.

i think this was really the only thing i didn't like about that toothbrush--it was the Elite series model. It was still worth it to me to replace them. I get plack inside my teeth, that's why the hygienist recommended the Sonicare in the first place, and it really helps to reduce that, much better than using an old fashioned non electronic toothbrush.



So--when i saw this new flex care model from Sonicare, i had to buy one on the spot even though i had come to the store (Bed Bath and Beyond)(coupons in hand) to just buy new brushes for my old Sonicare. I love how it's smaller and easily fits in the hand, it's light, and it's very powerful. It looks less obtrusive than the Elite. But best of all, it's designed in a way so that there is no way for the brush to get any built up nasty gunk inside it. It's a simple small brush design that fits over the end of the handle, no mechanical parts, no dark damp compartment where things can grow. And the sterilizer is nice too.



It's clear enough that the Sonicare company wanted to make an advance in the quality of this product with this new design. One of the known downfalls of this kind of tooth brush has been accumulation of bacteria and the dreaded gunk. I had searched the web for some kind of solution to this and found that it was a common problem. It's hard for me to imagine now how this design could be improved on.



as another review said, this tooth brush should be used with a very light touch, lightly holding the brush up against the teeth, the brush moves very fast and pressing down very hard will just interfere with what it does so well. I find this difficult, i tend to want to press down more than is necessary. I think it's probably not good for the motor. But habitually i've tended to press down more than what would be best. Again, it needs to be just lightly held against the surface of the tooth. My hygienist told me this.

I am ok with it as my 6-year old electric toothbrush (Sonicare too) finally gave up on me. I thought the one I just got would be 6 year technologically more advanced: great size indeed, the battery is a good as the old one: excellent duration: over 3 weeks between charges. When I insert the brush head, it doesn't go all the way to the bottom, a little gap stays in between it and the brush itself. I hope that's a glitch of the brush head and not of the body, otherwise, this will be a lemon.

Several of the comments have said that the buttons on the front get bumped too easily and you find yourself changing brushing modes even when you don't want to. I suppose if you grip the toothbrush in a closed fist that could happen. It's never happened to me, as I grip it lightly down the side grip pads. Another comment said there was a concern with mold in the UV unit. For that to happen there has to be standing water. I always dry the toothbrush off before putting it back on the stand - no mold issues. This is not my first Sonicare. I switched because I was tired of the gunk in the area where the toothbrush meets the handle. This one doesn't do that. I haven't decided yet how useful the sanitizer is, since it kills invisible stuff I think it's there to make you feel like your toothbrush is cleaner. Overall, it was definitely worth the upgrade.
