Tanning is Great but get some Sun Protective Swimwear

When it comes to tanning, there are a few things you should know

Sun Protective Bathing Suits

So what is all this hoopla about sun protective swimsuits? The following report includes some fascinating information about tanning and sun protective swimwear--info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

Summer is the season of fun at the beach and there is plenty of sunlight making it imperative to put on sun protective swimwear . Whilst the great pastime time during this period is sun bathing, the greatest danger lurking along beaches and swimming pools is ultra violet rays from the sun.

Ultra violet rays are emissions from the sun that has the potential of causing damage to unprotected skin surface.

Sun protective swimwear is clothing that we put on to fend off the negative effects that these radiations can have on the body.

The manufacture of sun protective swimwear is an elaborate process. Although the clothes themselves are made up of ordinary, everyday fabrics, it is the lining and the special treatment of the clothes that turn them into sun protective swimwear.

One technology is to use durable, breathable, lightweight, and very comfortable fabric with a 4-way stretch.

The inner part of the fabric is lined with the ultra violet light protective coating. If the sun protective swimwear is going to be used for swimming in a pool, then it is made from chlorine resistant swim fabric.

For people who are highly sensitive to sunrays or photosensitive skin or skin cancer, the choice is high-SPF clothing. These contain containing colorless compounds, and treated resins that absorb ultra violet light.

The essence of sun protective swimwear is to reflect as much as possible, the dangerous ultra violet rays from the sun as much as possible. This means, shiny, silky or reflective clothing are the best.

Another technique is to use tightly woven micro fiber containing enhanced titanium dioxide which diffuses ultra violet light and CoolMax mesh to ensure ventilation and moisture management.

There are several types of sun protective swimwear products available. There are some for babies, some for men and some for women. Between these we have ordinary and high end designer swimwear. Although all of them have the protection against the sun, there are vast differences in quality of fabric, design and appearance.

There are some sun protective swimwear that cover the entire body and some that are just top wear, shorts or pants.

With the high end fashion, you can have two, three and even sometimes four piece sun protective swimwear with a hat or sunglasses to match.

Of increasing popularity is men's sun protective swimwear comprising of a shirt, shorts and matching glasses. These products are both in the regular version and high end fashion.

Before we get on to why we need sun protective swimwear , it may be helpful to look at ultra violet rays. Ultraviolet rays (UV) or radiation is the invisible rays that are part of the energy that comes from the sun. UV radiation can damage the skin, cause melanoma and other types of skin cancer. There are two types of UV rays - there is the UVA which causes ordinary sun burn and the UVB which penetrate deeper into the skin to cause melanoma and other types of skin cancer.

Physiologically, overexposure to UV radiation can disturb the body's immune system and the skin's natural defenses.

Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there's more to sun protective swimsuits than you may have first thought.

Sun protective swimwear offers you a kind of filtering against these harmful rays. People most susceptible to these rays are those with light clothing and in areas where there is no overhead protection like the beach. Sun protective swimwear is also needed during summer when the sun shines a lot and consequently emits more ultra violet rays.

If you are interested in the stats,

• 1.3 million New cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year.

• One in five Americans will contract skin cancer.

• Malignant melanoma, the worst form of skin cancer, has increased 1,800% since 1930

It is likely that many patients can save themselves the discomfort of these illnesses by putting on some sun protective swimwear .

You need to exercise a lot of discretion in buying protective swimwear.

Sun protective swimwear is categorized per UPF rating. UPF is the amount of radiation that can pass through the clothing. For example, a fabric with a UPF rating of 15 will permit one fifteenth of the UVR to pass through it and a UPF 20 fabric, one twentieth of the UVR to pass through it. What this mean is, depending your skin sensitivity, you will go for the clothing that suits your skin type, and of course, how long you will be exposed to the sun.

It is also important to consider weave type. Generally, the tighter the weave or knit, the better the protection against the sun.

The less the light that can pass through the clothing, the better. To test porosity, you can hold the sun protective swimwear against the sun and see how much light comes through.

Darker clothes should also be preferred against lighter clothes.

The price of a sun protective swimwear ranges from $49.95 upwards and there are several shops offering regular and high end fashion sun protective swimwear.

Sun protective swimwear can be pretty expensive and therefore need a lot of care to prolong their life. Here are a few tips on how to care for them:

Avoid oil-based suntan lotions which can stain the fabric and cause it to stretch. Stretching increases porosity and consequently permits more UV light to come through.

Soak clothes in vinegar to prevent fading which permits more light to come through the clothes.

Chlorine can interact with the sun protective swimwear and damage it. Try to soak your body wet before jumping into the pool to minimize the chemical reaction with the chlorine in the pool.

Enjoy the sun, tan as you want but be mindful of the danger of UV - put on your sun protective swimwear and save your beautiful skin

There's no doubt that the topic of sun protective swimsuits can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about tanning, tanning beds or sun protective swimsuits, you may find what you're looking for in one of our future articles.

Synthetic Hair Extensions Create Choice Hair Styles for Fashion and Hair Loss

Tire of the same-o same-o hair in your model photos?

Synthetic Hair Extensions

So what is synthetic hair extentions really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about synthetic hair extentions--info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

From the beginning of time, women have cared for their hair. As far back as 4000-300 BC Egyptian women and even men are shown with various wigs and elaborate hair styles. Hair is a contributing factor to ones confidence and serenity.

Our culture strongly identifies femininity with a thick, lustrous head of hair. Images of full bodied, shining hair are synonymous with female attributes, sexuality, desirability and vigor. Thinning, dry, lusterless hair is identified with illness, old age, and poverty.

Every generation goes thru more and more transformations and capitalizes on current trends of Hair Styles. The big Hair Style trend these days is in full swing in Europe and is just starting to spread in the United States.

It is the trend of Hair Extensions. Hair extensions involve the attachment of human or synthetic hair to your existing hair to create a more full or long look immediately. Hair extensions can add instant body, length to your look and can also help with hair thinning and hair loss situations.

There are many different methods of hair extensions on the market today, some good, some not so good. Mark Sharp, cofounder and creative director of Mark Glenn Hair Enhancement of London, England and Glenn Kinsey, cofounder and managing director have taken revolutionary steps in developing a fiber hair extension method that not only doesn’t damage the existing hair but can even improve the condition of the hair.

They have transformed the lives of women who suffer from varying degrees of hair loss caused by conditions such as alopecia, trichotillomania, genetic factors, stress and postoperative trauma.

The Mark Glenn extensions, commonly known as MG extensions, use no glues, bonding solutions, threads, weaves, injections, and nothing is stuck on the head. They are attached using a very fine braid. A small section of existing hair is split into two. The fiber hair is also split into two to make the braid and is finally wrapped around the base of the hair, protecting it. The fiber is then "sealed on itself" using a heat tool (which is no hotter than a typical pair of curling tongs or crimpers). This creates a tiny plastic seal. It's important to point out that during this process, your own hair is safely "cocooned" inside the fiber so it doesn't come into direct contact with any heat. Therefore, your own hair stays in perfect condition. For hair loss or thinning problems, the extensions are applied with non-allergic mesh and the fiber hair is woven thru the mesh to create the look.

Glenn Kinsey of Mark Glenn Hair Enhancement has joined us today for a brief question and answer session on their fiber hair extensions.

Welcome Glenn and thank you for joining us today! We have a few questions for you about your wonderful hair extensions.

Question: I understand that you and Mark have previously worked with human hair extensions. Why did you switch to synthetic fiber extensions?

Answer: Several reasons:

1. Weight - human hair is twice the weight of fiber and therefore feels “heavy” on the head – at its worst, this increased weight and stress on the hair can cause “traction alopecia”. In addition, human hair is porous – it soaks up water – which can significantly increase the weight when wet.

2. Tangle – human hair tends to “matt” and “tangle” – this is because the surface of human hair has little “spines” on it, that look like roof tiles under a microscope. Because this “alien” hair isn’t being conditioned by the natural oils that condition your own hair, these “spines” tend to “stick out” and tangle up with the other hairs on your head. Consequently, you do need to use quite intensive conditioners to keep the hair in good condition. Fiber, however, has a smooth surface and therefore is less likely to tangle.

3. Glue - human hair extensions are typically applied with glue and removed with acetone – a recipe for damage, the results of which we regularly see in our studio. Our method doesn’t use any chemicals.

4. Color match - a stylist using human hair would typically take a swatch of the client’s hair and send it to a human hair supplier who would then pick the closest color from a specific range. We actually color-blend our hair with the client in front of us – taking into account all the different subtle shade shifts that may exist in their hair – to get an absolutely perfect match

5. Ethics – there’s a great deal of mystery surrounding the origins of human hair used in extensions and it’s very difficult to track the exact source. A common source for top quality hair is from female Russian prisoners, for example

6. Look and feel – fiber looks and feels just like real hair but is much kinder to the hair and is much easier to style and take care of.

Question: What percentage of your clients gets hair extensions for hair loss issues versus fashion?

Answer: The split is approximately 50/50

Question: You have developed your own branded method (MG extensions) for applying fiber extensions. What is unique about your method in comparison to other methods available? Do you plan to patent your application method?

Answer: We have a proprietary technique for working with female hair loss, for which clients visit us from all over the world. For fashion purposes, we’ve amalgamated several different methods and added our own unique adaptations to create a technique that creates a beautiful look

Question: Why do you feel that fiber extensions are superior to human hair extensions? Could you apply human hair extensions using your method if a client really preferred human hair?

Answer: See above. Apart from using pliers and a metal clip (which is great fun through airport metal detectors and very uncomfortable when you lay your head on a pillow!) the only way to apply human hair is with glue.

How can you put a limit on learning more about synthetic hair extentions? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

Question: What training and education is involved for stylists doing MG extensions? Answer We work in teams of two people – a “lead” and an “assist”. Team members start out as an “assist” and then, after about 12 to 24 months, progress up to a “lead”. “Leads” are the ones that direct the work. Our training is very intensive and “on the job” to allow team members to experience the bewildering array of both styles and techniques, as well as the differing types of hair loss they may encounter.

Question: What are the legal requirements in England for doing hair extensions?Answer: Sadly, there are no specific legal requirements for hair extensions over and above those for a normal hair salon.

Question: What are the minimum requirements for someone wanting hair extensions? Length of hair? Stable hair loss? Have you turned down clients for hair extensions and why?

Answer: We regularly turn away clients no matter how much they want hair extensions, if we don’t think it’s going to look sensational! For fashion work, the main reason is length of existing hair – for the best results, the clients hair needs to be at least 4 to 6 inches long. This is because you need existing hair to conceal where the extensions are attached. For our clients with hair loss, there can be a whole range of reasons, from too little existing hair to hair loss that hasn’t “stabilized”.

Question: There are some hair extensionists that don’t recommend getting fiber extensions because of esthetic reasons. Can you describe the quality of the fiber hair, where it is made and why these recommendations are not valid?

Answer: We only use a beautiful, handmade fiber that is absolutely undetectable from the real thing in look, feel and behavior. It’s actually more expensive than some human hair! Cheap fiber is truly awful, akin to “Barbie-doll” hair. You only tend to spot bad extensions – we pride ourselves on the fact that, in general, no-one even suspects our clients have extensions and we have a large number of celebrity clients that, in some cases, even the media haven’t spotted that their hair isn’t their own!

Question: You mention on your website, http://www.markglenn.com that the fiber extensions do not damage your hair and can even improve the condition of your hair. Can you explain how they can improve the condition of your hair?

Answer: First of all, we don’t use any chemicals. Secondly, your own hair is “cocooned” and protected inside the extension and continues to grow as normal. Thirdly, when the extensions are removed, they just slide off your hair leaving no mess or residue. Because your hair has been protected in this way over a few months, the condition of your own hair often improves.

Question: What is the maintenance schedule for fashion and hair loss fiber extensions? What happens if you do not follow the maintenance schedule?Answer: For fashion, you’d need to either remove the extensions after three months or have them removed and replaced. Initially, the extensions are attached at the base of your hair. However, your hair will grow at around half an inch a month so the extensions start to grow down your own hair.

If you leave it longer than 3 months, there’s a risk that the newly grown hair above the extension may start to matt and tangle and, in the worst-case scenario, dreadlocks. For hair loss, the particular technique we use demands that clients visit us every six weeks for similar reasons – the “mesh” can start to feel a little loose if it’s left for much longer than 6 weeks.

Question: If someone has very thick hair and wants only to lengthen it, why wouldn’t you just apply the extensions to the ends of the hair, instead of at the roots?

Answer: Because you’d see a “bump” where the extension is attached.

Question: Can you treat fiber extensions the same as your own hair? I.E. shampooing, conditioning, curling, brushing, etc.

Answer: Yes – wash it as normal, blow dry, curl, condition, brush – just like the real thing. And because the fiber is actually nonporous, you don’t need to use expensive products on the hair, e.g. conditioners, because they’ll have no effect on the extension hair itself. The only thing you have to avoid is direct, sustained heat e.g. hot-iron straighteners etc. Rollers etc. are fine.

Question: Are there any restrictions? Can you color or perm the fiber extensions?Answer: You can’t perm the extensions but you wouldn’t need to – you can achieve the same look using rollers, for instance. Color has no effect on the extension hair, again, because it’s nonporous. This is great for clients who continue to have their “roots” done, in the knowledge that the color won’t affect the extension hair.

Question: On an annual basis, what would a typical client pay for Fashion and Hair Loss Fiber extensions including maintenance schedules? Are the majority of the costs associated with cost of the materials or the labor?

Answer: Costs do vary from head to head and style to style. Since we have two people working on a client’s head at the same time, cost is predominantly based on the amount of time it takes with each particular client. On average, a fashion client would pay around GBP £1,500.00 per year and a hair loss client, around twice as much. And bear in mind that you don’t need to visit a hairdresser since we take care of all this during appointments.

Question: Your Hair Loss fiber extensions qualify for funding from medical plans in England. Did you have to go thru a certification process for this funding? Have any of your clients outside England received payment from medical plans in their country?

Answer: Because of the way the UK health system works (which is funded by the Government) it very much depends on the attitude of local health authorities rather than a specific “test”. Some health authorities are happy to fund their patients, whereas others are not, preferring the cheaper option of providing wigs. We’ve yet to have someone from outside the UK who’s funded by a health plan etc.

Question: Do you plan to offer training to stylists outside your salon so that other salons in the world can offer MG Extensions?

Answer: Not at present, although it’s something we may consider in the future.

Question: Are there reputable salons in the US that you would recommend?

Answer: Since the majority of our techniques were developed in-house and are therefore unique to us, it’s unlikely you’d find anyone locally who does things in quite the same way. The fact that, currently, we have clients that visit us from 14 different countries, seems to confirm this. I so wish I could recommend others, but we simply haven’t yet come across anyone who provides a similar result to a similar standard

Customer Service Center: Hello, Thank you for calling the Get Beautiful Shop. What can I get for you today?

Customer: Hello, I would like to order a beautiful long, full hair style, slimmer thighs, higher cheekbones, a tummy tuck and a little liposuction please. Oh, and don’t forget the face lift, I hear it is on sale!

Nowadays, natural beauty can be purchased and in most cases, no one will know the difference. In the example of the beautiful long, full hair style, modern day human hair extensions offer the utmost beautiful hair for just about anyone that wants longer, fuller or highlighted hair.

Dino Dondiego, founder of Sequence Hair in Englewood, New Jersey, has developed a new technique for adding hair for length and volume.

Dondiego has been working with hair extensions for over 3 decades and has attached them using just about every method available on the market. He categorizes current methods of adding hair into three different areas, weaving, extensions and hair systems.

The first area is weaving, where a track is made horizontally with the natural hair (created by braiding the natural hair) and the human hair is sewn into the track in wefts or individual hair. (A weft is a tiny little curtain of hair that is attached together at the top) This method was derived from African American salons in the US that use to corn braid the hair and sew wefts into the braids.

Dondiego says there are limitations with this method because the weft that is sewn in can be hard to hide and the client cannot wear his/her hair in certain ways and there can also be a build up of hair care products and dirt in the tracks. Removal of the wefts can also pull out the natural hair.

The second area is extensions. This method was also derived from African American salons that started braiding individual human hairs into the clients braided hair. Extensions offer a more natural, free-flowing look and have become widely accepted as a way to add length, volume and highlights to your hair. Dondiego saw limitations to many extension methods.

Many methods advertise strand by strand hair extensions, when in reality they are attaching chunks of hair at a time, causing undue stress on the natural hair and also creating an unnatural look. Other methods use adhesive materials that can damage the natural hair.

The third area is the hair system. These systems consist of hair pieces that are sewn or bonded to the scalp. Some can include nets that the natural hair is pulled thru to blend in with the human hair attached to the net. Limitations to these integrated hair systems are that you will need a lot of hair to hide the nets.

Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.

As Dondiego worked with each method, realized the limitations, he decided to reverse engineer the way human hair grows out of the scalp.

He determined that the most logical way to add hair would be to mimic the way human hair grows, randomly and one at a time. However, it is unfeasible to have a client sit in a chair while one human hair is added in a random pattern. This would take a very long time to finish.

Dondiego developed a technique called Hair Blending® that allows him to add one human hair at a time in a random fashion. Hair Blending® involves the use a special filament string, called a Sequence Blending Strand® that has the same thickness of one human hair, but is much stronger than human hair.

The blending strands are transparent and blend into the tone of hair and skin. They are hard to see with the naked eye. Human hairs are attached by hand, one at a time to the Sequence Blending Strand® with a specially designed instrument that has a fine hook on the end.

When a client first comes to the Sequence Hair offices in New Jersey, Dondiego determines exactly how much hair will be needed for the client. Color and texture of the hair is also determined. Then the client must wait for 6 weeks while his/her Sequence Blending Strands are custom designed.

After completion, the customized Sequence Blending Strands are attached to the clients’ natural hair using a linking system. Each Sequence Blending Strand® is wrapped around 5 or 6 strands of the natural hair and secured with a tiny little anchor the size of a pin head. It sort of looks like tiny little pony tails. The blending strands are very fine and light, leaving the scalp open to breathe. It can take between 3-4 hours to blend in a full head of hair.

Clients must return every month or so (depending on how fast their hair grows) to have the hair re-secured. The Hair Blending Strands do not need to be removed. The system can last between 3-4 years.

Dondiego concludes that Hair Blending is one of the safest ways to add hair since it leaves the scalp open to breath and does not add too much stress to the natural hair. He adds that, “No method is 100% safe and anyone that adds hair must take proper care of it. Because the more hair you have the more work you need.”

Hair Blending® by Sequence Hair is only available at the New Jersey Office. Expansion plans are in the works for certifying salons nationwide to do Hair Blending. For additional information on Sequence Hair Blending, see http://www.sequencehair.com , or call 1.888.BLEND.88

Hair Care Home Remedies

Having a Bad Hair Day?

Taking Care of Your Hair

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues about hair care I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

Save money and give yourself a break from the chemicals found in most hair care products by using the following natural home remedies.

Tame your frizzy hair by rubbing coconut oil into your hands and applying sparingly onto your hair. You don't want to overdo it - too much will make your hair look greasy. Shampooing your hair less frequently also helps with the frizzies. Excess shampooing strips natural oils from the hair.

Rinse your hair with baking soda and water to rid your hair of shampoo buildup and styling residues. Rinsing your hair with one juiced lemon and one cup of water is said to bring life and shine back to dull hair. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water will give your hair shine and bounce.

Add essential oil of ylang ylang to your shampoo, conditioner and styling agents as a hair rejuvenator and to stimulate hair growth. Add patchouli to your shampoo if you have oily hair.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and hair care experts is time.

If you'll invest a little more time in reading, you'll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to hair care.

Rosemary is an effective hair tonic and conditioner. Rosemary also helps retain color especially in dark hair.
Chamomile and lemon juice have a mild bleaching effect on hair. Mix chamomile tea with lemon juice and use as a rinse to lighten hair.

For problems with dandruff, add rosemary and/or patchouli essential oils to your shampoo or mix with almond oil as a hair treatment for your scalp.

For hair loss, add horseradish oil, cedarwood, clary sage, and/or rosemary oil to your shampoo. Also, Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) is a natural source of organic sulfur good for treating hair loss. Take MSM supplements or eat high sulfur content greens such as kale and watercress.

Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair. What goes into your body is reflective on the outside including your hair.

Is there really any information about hair care that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.

17 Top Tips For Great Holiday Hair

Hair and Makeup for the Christmas Holidays

Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about hair and makeup? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about hair and makeup.

When you are away from home in a different climate your hair will be subjected to weather it is not used to.

Your hair needs to be protected in the same way that you do with your skin. UV rays are very harmful to your hair affecting the pigment, strength, shine and vitality.

For your skin you take with you cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and after-sun lotions so for your hair take shampoo, conditioner, hair sunscreen and styling products.

Cold Climate

1. Cold temperatures weaken your hair and susceptible to damage. Flyaway hair tends to be subject to static. Hair should be well conditioned and protected by wearing a hat.

2. If you have frizzy hair use a leave-in conditioner and take a deep moisturizing mask with you on holiday. All hair types will benefit from using a heat protection spray and serum to keep the elements out and keep the moisture in.

Humid climate

3. Hair expands just like it does when it is wet in a humid climate. This will make your hair fluffy or if it is curly, frizzy.

4. For all hair types, a pre-holiday deep conditioning treatment is a must to nourish the hair and seal the cuticles, as you want to prevent excess moisture from entering the hair shaft.

5. If you have fine hair use a light leave-in conditioner from mid-way down the hair to the ends and use a serum to seal the ends after blow-drying, being careful not to overdo the serum on fine hair.

6. If you have curly and/or frizzy hair then you need to seal the cuticle (the outside of your hair) to minimize the additional frizziness that results in humid weather.

7. Use a leave-in conditioner very morning. Use an anti-frizz serum to coat and seal the cuticle.

Hot and dry climate

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about hair and makeup, keep reading.

8. The sun strips the hair of its natural oils and dry heat increases this effect. UV rays attack your hair and the resulting free radicals damage the hair. The weakened cuticle causes the hair to become dehydrated, allows the bleaching and fading of the color pigment as well as split ends.

9. To protect your hair 100 rom sun damage wear a hat!

10. Deep conditioning your hair before your holiday is essential.

11. If you have fine hair use a wash your hair with a gentle shampoo and use a light leave-in conditioner with UV protection. Use a sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your hair from the effects of the sun and seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.

12. If you have curly hair use a moisturizing shampoo and a leave-in conditioner to minimize dryness. Apply a nourishing hair mask whilst you are away to deep condition your hair. Use a sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your hair from the effects of the sun and seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.

13. If you have frizzy hair use a sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your hair from the effects of the sun and seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.Use a rich leave-in conditioner with UV protection each morning and apply a hair mask every other day during the holiday.

14. When you have been swimming in the sea always wash the salt out afterwards.

15. Chlorine from the swimming pool is extremely damaging when combined with the effects of the sun, wet your hair in the shower before hand and protect your hair with a leave-in conditioner preferably one containing a UV filter. Wash your hair thoroughly after swimming.

16. Hair grips and bands are an extremely useful item to have on holiday and offer a quick-fix solution for hair care problems.

17. Don't forget your travel plug to ensure that you can still use your hairdryer and other electric hairstyling equipment whilst abroad.

Does Shaving Set a Fire in Your Armpits?

A Possible Cure for Razor Burn?

Shaving Burn Challenge

Ow!! That Burns!!

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you'll find that the subject of female shaving problems is certainly no exception.

Unless you live in France or some other foreign country, where it's accepted that females aren't shaving their armpits, it's kind of an unspoken rule that once you have hair in your armpits, you need to start shaving it.

At least in western societies, females are considered uncouth or even unkempt/unclean if they're not shaving their armpits.

Just consider the type of negative press any female well known in the media gets if/when it's revealed she's not shaving her armpits.

Remember that shot of Julia Roberts with her arm raised exposing a tuft of dark hair?

No matter how much we adore Julia - On some level, this tarnished her "clean" image.

You may disagree with this and you may even be justified to take exception to society dictating how you look, but the truth remains that if you aren't shaving your armpits, you're a bit of an outcast.

I don't know about you, but I believe there are much more important issues to deal with, like stopping the use of animals for testing cosmetic products, protecting children from abuse, preventing domestic violence of all types, caring better for our elderly citizens, right down to cleaning up and preserving our planet, to name a few ... That are much more important than whether or not I have to be shaving my armpits.

I have a good friend who often reminds me, "Choose your battles wisely". Which means we all need to decide what issues are really important enough to fight for. Frankly, not shaving my armpits is not one of them.

Politics aside - It remains that shaving our armpits is a "necessary evil", if you will, of living in this privileged society.

So - The issue becomes, what's the best way of removing hair from our armpits?

I haven't heard it recommended that females use a depilatory to remove under arm hair. Probably because the chemicals are too harsh for this sensitive skin and there's a rumor that these chemicals can be easily absorbed in this area.

Nor have I heard about females having their armpit hair waxed. And honestly, I have to plead ignorance as to why not. There are probably a host of females who are having it done, I just haven't come across any information about it in my research.

Those of you not familiar with the latest on female shaving problems now have at least a basic understanding. But there's more to come.

That brings us back to shaving our armpits.

And while that sounds simple enough, as with most things, there's a catch.

It's called a wet razor. The shaving tool introduced to me when it came my time to start shaving my armpits.

Unfortunately, no one instructed me about the proper ways to start shaving my armpits with a wet razor, so the majority of my life I just suffered the fire under my arms for the first couple of days after shaving.

One thing I don't understand - In my research, I've seen it suggested, repeatedly, that you can use a white stick deodorant to limit skin abrasions after shaving. Yeah right -

It's a well known fact, (and common sense should tell you), and if all else fails - Just read the back of any deodorant ... The last thing you want to do after, "scraping", your skin raw with a razor is apply a strong, chemical based substance.

Hello ...

Instead, just dust your armpits with a talc free powder, or maybe a little cornstarch. Both of these work great on a baby's bottom to prevent diaper rashes, so you know they'll work to put out the fire of shaving your armpits.

Better yet - You could do some research and find out about newer, safer shaving tools to help you stop setting a fire when shaving your armpits.

I haven't had a fire from shaving my armpits for years. And let me tell you - What a relief.

You can't predict when knowing something extra about female shaving problems will come in handy. If you learned anything new about razor burn in this article, you should file the article where you can find it again.

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues about hair care I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

Health, strength and beauty of hair depends primarily on its nerve vigor and the good circulation of the oily scalp secretion which gives it gloss and luster. Beauty is not so much a matter of color where hair is concerned. If your hair has a fine glow, a rich sheen, is thick and long, it will be beautiful irrespective of its pigmentation. Hair often makes an otherwise plain person beautiful. And practically every woman, if she cares to make the effort, may have beautiful hair.

SOME HAIR HINTS

If you have the least suspicion of a curl in your hair, brushing around rather than straight will

bring it out. Do not worry if you shed your hair. It is natural for the hair to shed — and to keep right on growing in again. Only see to it that the ingrowth is equal to the loss by shedding.

No young girl should use a rat. Metal combs should be tabooed. Keep the hairbrush you use for dandruff stiff, the "polishing" brush may be softer. Use a hair net that matches your own hair color, and do not get too small a one. Remove snarls and tangles in the hair gently, with fingers, before brushing. The three-weekly or monthly shampoo is a good rule. If you wash your hair too often, it will turn dry and brittle and change color.

The hair should never be worn "done up" constantly. This is injurious because every part of the hair should have frequent air and sun baths. For normal shampoo employ Castile, tar or vegetable soaps, and Green soap for oily hair. A good egg shampoo may be made of an egg, thoroughly beaten, one tablespoon alcohol, four ounces bay rum, a pinch of borax, and four ounces of Castile soap mixed in a pint of hot water, to be used when cool.

Hair that is blonde or ruddy, as well as gray hair, may be washed with Castile soap jelly plus a quarter-teaspoonful of borax. Always comb and brush thoroughly, with fingertip massage. After shampooing is the best time for scalp massage, hair pulling and skin loosening.

DRY SHAMPOO AND SCALP MASSAGE

The scalp and hair should be cleansed between shampoos. For this purpose the "dry shampoo" is necessary.

It is actually a form of scalp massage. Preparations of orris, corn meal and other dry shampoo powders are not recommended.

They stick, and it is hard to get them out of the hair. A vigorous rubbing of the scalp after the hair has been parted, using a small piece of muslin over the tip of the finger, is best. Hot and cold applications are good, with or without shampoo, especially if the hair is falling. Remember that the hair should not be "hot-air" dried.

The hot-air cone used for the purpose in hairdressing establishments destroys the hair. Human hair should always be dried by hand.

Scalp massage makes the hair grow and prevents many hair troubles. A five-minute fingertip massage, night and morning, is the one ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure. The electrical massage by a professional (after a shampoo), the violet ray, and the rubber-disk vibrator are all excellent for the hair. They strengthen and stimulate.

HAIR TONICS

Massage is the first and best hair tonic. Though a good scalp lotion may stimulate circulation, massage always does so more directly. In general it will be wise to remember that tonics are meant for specific purposes of cure for hair disorders, rather than for common use.

A little refined beef marrow rubbed gently into the hair roots is a good natural tonic (though an old-fashioned one) and together with plenty of fresh air and sunshine, does more for the hair than all the compounded tonics and "restorers" marketed. Every woman can keep her hair in good condition if she chooses to. If she cannot give it attention in the morning she should do so at night.

The information about hair care presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about hair care or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

HAIR TROUBLES

Most hair troubles could be prevented in the start by ordinary good care of the hair, and the maintenance of the state of general good health. Of course, various diseases affect the hair: fever dries it out and makes it fall; syphilis and other sex diseases poison and destroy it. Some skin diseases have the same effect. In general, if you are healthy, broadly speaking, your hair will be healthy too.

Dandruff—What we have to deal with in dandruff is a horny layer cast off by the scalp. This layer thickens, closes the pores, diminishes the hair's oil supply, and prevents the perspiration glands from getting rid of waste.

Soon the hair loses tone and color, and is covered with whitish powder. Then it starts to itch and fall. In an advanced state of the disease, the hair falls out, and blood crusts form on the scalp as a result of scratching. Digestive disorders, toxic elements in the blood or local irritation may cause dandruff, and it is communicable.

Daily care of the scalp, massage and brushing, if persisted in when the disorder first appears, are very beneficial.

The crude oil massage of the scalp, not the hair, is excellent and often effects a cure. A massage every night, using Vaseline or olive oil, together with repeated shampoos, also helps to do away with dandruff.

Although pomades in general should be avoided, a pomade with a precipitated sulfur base, mixed with glycerin, rose-water, lanolin, and soap, or a sulfur ointment or cream kills the dandruff germ.

There is an "oily dandruff," also, though the disease is most commonly a dry scalp one. Shampoo with tincture of Green soap should cure this type of the disease in about a week's time. If you have dandruff, observe a regular diet, and stick as much as possible to milk and fresh fruit.

Falling Hair.—An acid condition of the blood encourages the hair to fall. Correct it and you will have removed the cause of your complaint. The use of the violet ray and the vibrator, which hold down the tendency to an oily scalp, is also valuable for hair treatment in this connection. So, too, are hot and cold applications.

HAIR DISEASES WHICH SHOULD NOT OCCUR

Favus, the development of yellow scalp crusts, accompanied by severe itching, bald spots and a musty odor, is a dirt disease, hence inexcusable in a woman, unless as a result of infection. To remove it the scalp must be soaked in olive oil for a few days, carbolic acid being mixed with it in a weak solution, the hair pulled out of the most infected areas, the crusts removed, and the whole scalp shampooed with an antiseptic soap.

Ringworm is usually a gift of those evil things, the "common property" comb and brush, or the patent hair clipper. Rubbing with sulfur ointment, washing with bichloride soap, or painting with iodine, to precede the application of a cleansing ointment, is the treatment. It is dangerous since it may result in baldness.

Head lice (which may be cured by saturating the hair with kerosene or crude petroleum at night,

wrapping in a towel to retain fumes, and following by antiseptic soap shampoo) is a most disgusting trouble, and unless communicated cannot occur except as a result of neglect and uncleanness. The possibility of contagion constitutes the menace of all three of these diseases.

Is there really any information about hair care that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.

Save on Wedding Costs and have that Chocolate Fountain

Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Chocolate Fountains but were Afraid to Ask!

Weddings and Chocolate - A Fountain of Ideas

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled about chocolate fountains and planning a wedding are actually still being openly discussed.

Chocolate fountains, once a rarity at weddings, are becoming more common -- but no less beloved. Still, they pose a budget crunch for many brides, coming in at only slightly under the cost of the wedding cake -- and that's for a one-day rental!

If you're like us, there's something that just burns our little Yankee hearts about spending over $400 to rent a machine that granted, costs a little over ten times that, but gets rented out many times. And yet if you're like us, you really want a way to fit that chocolate fountain in.

We're both in luck, because higher-end chocolate fountains are coming to the home market and becoming more accessible ... even to skinflints!

What We Didn't Buy -- And Why

You've seen the early entrants, maybe on eBay -- inexpensive chocolate fountains made by lesser-known brands selling for about eighty bucks.

You've probably thought of trying one out, just because the price difference between that and a rental machine was so astronomical.

We did too, but as we read about the small, cheap versions, we ran into a lot of complaints.

One of the most worrisome was that the cheap fountains made such a loud grinding noise, you couldn't have a conversation standing next to one -- which was not the ambiance we wanted for our party.

Further, we weren't sure if we wanted to keep the fountain over the long term. We wanted to buy something with good resale value so we could recapture our money if needed.

Fortunately, as our deadline approached, Sephra -- the standard in high-end rental fountains -- began offering pre-orders on their first home market fountains. We snapped one up for about $250, an attractive fountain that holds five pounds of chocolate. The fountains were so new, we had to switch our order from the lovely cherry red we'd wanted to a stainless steel in order to get it in time. But we got it.

Show time ... And Some Helpful Hints

Once acquired, it was time to test it out in live conditions! The first party we unveiled it at was on the small side, with about 25 people. Setup was simple. The experience did, however, teach us some tips:

Try out and get comfortable with your chocolate fountain before a really big affair. You won't really understand the logic behind the instruction book until you try it. For example:

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole chocolate fountains story from informed sources.

1) The chocolate fountain really does need to be balanced to work properly. Sephra models offer adjustable feet to accomplish this. When we first set up our fountain, we were so busy we didn't level it, and it didn't flow well until an left brained type in shining armor fixed it for us. Then things worked 100% better.

2) When melting large quantities of chocolate, don't even bother with a double burner. You need a glass bowl and a large microwave, which your venue hopefully provides. Heat gently, as advised -- no higher than 50% power.

3) Also, Sephra provides you with a little tool for telling whether your chocolate's melted enough to flow well. Err on the side of "too melted" rather than "not enough." Especially given the minute or so it takes to transport it, the chocolate can easily get too thick for easy flowing.

With 25 very interested people, we nearly (but not quite) ran through our first five pounds of chocolate. So you can guesstimate needing a pound of chocolate per five invitees. Just be sure to have extra on hand.

We worried whether it would be difficult to refill the fountain -- for example, whether we would have to lug the whole thing back into the kitchen, disassemble, refill -- but it turned out to be dead simple. You just pour melted chocolate into the bottom most bowl.

Our Chocolatey Conclusions

Sephra is bringing larger versions of their fountain to the home market. For a large wedding or a party of several hundred, we would probably go with a larger version.

Yet you can also do very well with the five pound model. After all, it's hard to melt, carry and otherwise handle more than five pounds of chocolate at once (you wouldn't believe how many "chocolate chips" that is). All you need is someone willing to watch and refill periodically, which isn't hard. Pick someone who can get slightly messy without a problem -- not a bridesmaid in shiny taffeta.

If we'd had more time and a larger party, we'd probably get the largest fountain we could buy, care for it well, and resell it when the hoopla died down. That would save a huge chunk of change over the $400-500 one day rental, and bring the chocolate fountain within reach of a lot more brides (and happy guests).

And if you happen to fall in love with it and the day for selling it never comes?

Well, it happens. Just ask us.

If you've picked some pointers about chocolate fountains that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge about planning a wedding reception if you don't use it.

Can Women Build Big Muscles?

Why Women Can't Build Big Muscles Easily

Women & Muscles

Why Is It Difficult For Women To Build Big Muscles?

Super Women

This article explains a few things about women and big muscles, and if you're interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don't know.

"I don't want to workout lifting weights because I don't want to build big muscles " or "I just do aerobics and sit ups to lose weight because if I lift weights, I may build muscle and looked like a man."

Ladies. Have you made these comments before? Awww... c'mon ladies, if you have ever uttered these words, you have just done a terrible disservice to yourself and are missing out on many great benefits that working out with weights can give you.

Have you ever pointed to your belly or butt and sweetly proclaimed, "I want lose weight here." So managed to convince yourself that sweating profusely is the answer to a slim and beautiful body and you hit the gym day in and day out just to sweat off your tummy or butt fats!

So you peddle away on your stationary bike in the gym just like little hamsters or frantically stepping away on the step up machine and then you woefully do crunches after crunches in the hope of having a flat belly and a well rounded shapely butt not realizing that there is no such thing as spot reduction.

You never even bother take a look at the weight lifting machines or the free weights lying everywhere in the gym not to say even touching those weights.
Gosh.this terrible myth of building big muscles on women is creating so much fear in women causing them never to train with weights at their detriment.

Ladies! If you are listening, I want to say this loud and clear. There is no way women will build big huge muscles unless you are on special supplementation and specially designed training system. Some of those muscle bound ladies you have seen may even be taking steroids which are banned and obviously harmful. never never touch steroids to build muscles.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of women and big muscles is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about women and big muscles.

So the, why is it difficult for women to build big muscles? Well, it is simply because you do not have enough of testosterone, a male hormone that encourages your muscles to grow. In fact, women have ten to thirty times less of bodybuilding hormones, testosterone than their male counterparts. Women who accept the myth that they will build big muscles if they workout with weights will miss out on all of the benefits that weightlifting and bodybuilding can offer.

This myth is so ingrained in women's psyche that even after explaining the facts to my women clients, they are still afraid to lift weights. So will women who lift weights in their workouts build more muscle tissue? Yes, of course, but it will not be those big huge muscles like those of bodybuilders. Your muscles will just tone your body shape resulting in a tight, firm, healthy, attractive and desirable body.

The body shape that is ever so sexy and healthy. Yes, you may have noticed an increase in weight when you step on a scale. This is because muscles weigh more than fat. Thus, as you increase your muscle tissue, your weight will increase but your fats will be reduced giving you a well toned sexy body which most women can only dream of.

Muscle burn calories naturally even when you are sleeping. In fact, research has shown that for each kilo of muscle you build, you will burn 70-100 more calories per day. So, if you gain 2 kilos of muscle and lose 2 kilos of fat, you will burn about 75 more calories per kilo, which equates to burning 150 additional calories per day, which translates into 4200 additional calories per month and ultimately results in a fat or weight loss of 7-8 kilos a year without doing anything! One kilo is 2.2 pounds. Doesn't that sound great?

Another reason that women should do weightlifting is the benefit it can have on your bones. Weight training is a powerful preventive action against osteoporosis, a disease caused by porous bone and low bone density. Women has a much higher risk than men to suffer from osteoporosis. In fact, most women will suffer from this disease as they age. Those plagued with osteoporosis have an increased susceptibility to fractures. These fractures can even be fatal. So, women should exercise with weight to strengthen and increase bone density. Research has shown that six months of weightlifting may increase bone mineral density by as much as 15 percent. As you increase your muscle tissue, your bones must adapt to accommodate this increase in your muscle mass . So your bones respond by increasing in density. The result? You will own a stronger skeletal structure and a reduced risk for osteoporosis.

So, don't completely swear off weightlifting fearing that training with weights will build big muscles and turn you into an Incredible Hulk! You won't and you can't. Period.

OK girls, the weights are over there. Let's lift them now! Have the last laugh when your girl friends tell you that they don't want to lift weights and yet watching you transform your body that will make heads turn when you are in your bikini.

It never hurts to be well-informed with the latest on women and big muscles. Compare what you've learned here to future articles so that you can stay alert to changes in the area of women and big muscles.

Laser Hair Removal - Your Choice?

Are You Considering Removing Unwanted Hair by using Laser Hair Removal ?

Laser Hair Removal Tips

The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood about removing unwanted hair or bikini hair by method of laser treatments. The most important thing is to study with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.

If you have heard all the facts about laser hair removal, you already know your answer to the question above. But, although it is heavily advertised, most people actually do not know all that much about laser hair removal.

But, this is okay because you can find quite a bit of the information you need to make a decision on it right here on the web. Laser hair removal works by targeting the dark material on the skin. There are many more facts that you need to know though, before you can make a decision.

How It Works

How does it work? Laser hair removal works through a light wavelength that targets these dark colored materials on your skin. This is usually the pigment of the hair.

It works through a hand held device that targets these areas and removes hair from them. It works the best on those with fair colored skin and dark colored hair.

The darker the skin’s pigment the more difficult the procedure of laser hair removal will work on you.

The information about laser hair removal presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about removing bikini hair or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

What To Know

Although laser hair removal has been around for a long time, it has only been used commercially for a handful of years. In that time period, many have found great success with this process. But, the hair removal is not always permanent. Hair that does come back can be lighter in color in some people. For others, it does remain gone. Laser hair removal is quite expensive as well.

Problems With Laser Hair Removal

When used properly, there are few problems, medically speaking, that can occur during laser hair removal. Yet, many people complain that it is a painful process.

You will not be given any medication, as the pain isn’t horrible, but it is uncomfortable. Also, if done wrong, laser hair removal can cause a number of issues such as burns, skin that is discolored for months at a time, lesions, and patchy hair regrowth.

If you've picked some pointers about laser hair removal that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

A Guide To Dating

Tips for a great date

Have you ever wondered if what you know about dating is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on dating.

People in long-term relationships, whether they are married or dating, often complain about getting into a rut. Your relationship may have started off with the great burst of passion and excitement but perhaps it began to wane because life is busy and work can where you out by the end of the day.

If you're in a dating relationship that seems to be in a rut, or wonder why you can't keep a long term relationship exciting anymore, perhaps you need to go back to the beginning. That doesn't mean you need to break up with your current partner and find someone new, it means you need to refresh the relationship with exciting and spontaneous activities.

When you look back on a period of your life, what is it that you remember? Is it the average day-in, day-out activities? Not likely. It is more likely those fun and spur-of-the-moment times when you did things that were hilarious or scary or new. That's what it means to go back to the beginning of a relationship, when everything you do is spontaneous and new.

Next time you and your girlfriend or boyfriend are deciding to do something on Friday, don't settle for dinner-and-a-movie. Do something different! Here are some ideas:

If your dating facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don't let important dating information slip by you.

* Play paintball
* Rent a classic car
* Go skydiving
* Have a picnic

Or surprise your date with something spontaneous:

* Start a water fight
* Go for a romantic boat ride and tip the boat
* Blindfold your date and take them somewhere they never been
* Surprise your date at work just as they're finishing up for the day

Relationships fail for many reasons. One of the saddest reasons is that people simply drift apart because the other person doesn't excite them anymore. It doesn't have to be that you're your relationship, whether dating or married, can thrive when it is filled with adventures that the two of you share as you build memories together.

You'll look back on your time together with fondness as you consider the many fun and spontaneous things you did together. But doing those things is a choice. Choose to return to the beginning of your relationship and have fun again!

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about dating.

With Your New Funky Hair Color You can Look like you were in an Accident!

Or... At Least You won't be just one of the crowd!

Funky Hair Color

Current info about funky hair color is not always the easiest thing to find. Fortunately, this report includes the latest hair dye info available.

What does your hair color say about you?

The hair on the top of our heads (or in my case, the lack of it) is something of a barometer for our personalities. A person with a conservative, medium brown hair cut probably won’t be seen in a punk rock club in the middle of a mosh pit. However, sometimes we all have a yearning to do something crazy, to jump out of the normal hairstyle box we’ve put ourselves in to and try something wild and outrageous. Temporary funky hair color is a fun way to do just that.

Should you attempt to change your hair color at home or go to a beauty salon?

Even though many stores sell hair dye kits you can apply yourself at home, you might want to consider visiting a beauty salon to have the funky hair color put in by a professional hair stylist.

Even if it’s the type that washes out with just a shampoo, it does need to be applied correctly to guarantee that it will indeed simply rinse out. You also do not want to be sporting a neon green or bright pink scalp for weeks. Having a stylist apply your funky hair color will help minimize the risk of these things happening.

Temporary vs. Permanent Funky Hair Color

Another reason for using the temporary variety is that you can experiment with different looks. Maybe you’ve always wondered what you’d look like with royal blue hair.

With funky hair color you can have the color applied and see how you look. As a model photographer I love to see models go out of the box from time to time and a funky hair style and color can make the model session more interesting and fun for photographer and model.

And, the temporary hair dye is so easy to rinse out that you won’t have to worry about carrying that look around with you for months after your funky hair color application.

So far, we've uncovered some interesting facts about hair dyes. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

When is a good time to try out a new funky look with your hair color?

What about Halloween? This is the time of year when people go all out looking for crazy and wacky hairstyles. Many of these styles involve the use of funky hair color. In fact, no one really gives a second look to a young man with green hair near the end of October. The same can be said for a woman with bright orange locks.

It’s during this time of year that funky hair color becomes a very popular trend. This is a great time to have some model photos done too! You can combine that funky hair and your costume for a wild and crazy photo session. Add some sunglasses and you're all set!

Are you brave enough to try a new funky hair color?

While you are still young, experiment with your look, consider changing your hair color. Although you can certainly turn to the standard blonde, brunette or black, adding a funky hair color to your life can also bring on the excitement. One thing is for certain about wearing a flashy color in your hair is that you’ll no longer blend in with the crowd.

Caution: Just one thought about changing hair color. If you are not yet of age make sure your parents know what you are about to do. Nothing gets you grounded more quickly than surprising your Mom and Dad with a funky hair color. They may not see the allure as you do. d:-)

Notwithstanding the warning above, life is about living and if you have enough spunk and confidence to carry an outrageous hairstyle consider taking the plunge and having it done.

Remember that hair always grows back and the color eventually fades so even if you don’t like it, it’s never a lifetime commitment.

Now you can understand why there's a growing interest in funky hair color. When people start looking for more information about funky hair color, you'll be experienced enough to meet their needs.

Can Brand Name Perfume help with Your Body Odor?

Well, at Least You won't be the talk of the party!

Brand Name Perfumes

Are you looking for some inside information on brand name perfumes? Here's an up-to-date report from brand name perfumes experts who should know.

Do you know the difference between a brand name perfume and a drugstore fragrance? Well, let me give you a basic rundown.

Brand name perfumes are made to last longer. What many people do not realize about fragrances is that they are all truly different. Take an eau de toilette for example. These fragrances are made with stronger oils; therefore they will last longer and produce a more powerful scent, even in small doses.

Then you have the body spray. These are a weaker version, which can certainly be applied more liberally.

Their scent will wear off as the day progresses. In my opinion, the key fragrance that every human being should be wearing is deodorant / antiperspirant. This should be a law.

How can you put a limit on learning more about body odor and perfumes? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

Body odor is not a pretty sight. So all of you hippies out there, who refrain from using any deodorants or brand name perfume, you wreak. It doesn't matter if no one has told you yet.

Chances are they never will. But, you most likely still radiate a terrible funk.

If you are in the market for a quality brand name perfume, you might want to hop online. This is probably the best place to go if you're in the market for cologne, body spray or brand name perfume.

There is a massive selection available. However, before you decide on that ideal cologne or brand name perfume, you will most likely want to check it out in your local department store first.

This way you can be certain that the aroma is right for your skin.

Those who only know one or two facts about brand name perfumes can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you're learning here.

The Truth about Homemade Facials

Beauty and the Homemade Facial - The Truth

If you're seriously interested in knowing about homemade facials, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about makeup and beauty.

I started making facial masks after reading several books on natural cosmetics. Common ingredients used in home made facials are eggs, lemon, milk, honey, cucumber, tomato, essential oils and lots more fruits, herbs and other ingredients.

The assumption I had was that home made cosmetics, being all natural and preservative free were much safer than the commercial masks you found in stores. A wrong assumption. You know the saying about assumptions, right? Did you know some of the deadliest poisons on earth are 100% natural?

There are complaints about preservatives irritating the skin and all that. That may be true especially for a person with very sensitive skin.

But preservatives actually make cosmetics safe to use. Preservatives kill or at very least, inhibit the bacteria, mold, viruses and nasty things that would otherwise thrive in the cosmetics we use. Commercial preparations usually contain some preservative or other to make these products safe for use.

Some of the very high end cosmetic formulations are packed in sterile capsules to do away with or at least, minimize, the need for preservatives.

A Facial Warning!!

If you make your own skin care for use later in the week, chances are, unless you are anal about sterilizing everything and freezing every batch once it has cooled, thawing it only when you are going to use it, and keeping your cosmetics away from the raw meat in the freezer, eventually, you could find yourself using contaminated home made cosmetics, which could lead to a skin irritation.

I used to make my own skin care but found all the precautions I had to take such a hassle, now I buy mine off the shelves.

Even if you make your facial products for immediate use, you have to be careful about using only the freshest ingredients. A moldy fruit or anything that is spoilt can lead to disastrous results on your skin.

Safety in Skin Care

Then there is the safety of the ingredients used in your skin care products.

I once told a pharmacist about the lemon remedy I was using on my pimples. She was horrified. Lemons are highly acidic. Lemon juice is pH 2. Sulfuric acid is pH 1. Lemons can cause a nasty acid burn if you are not careful.

We had a discussion about this. She told me about a customer who showed up with an acid burn. Turns out, she had a sunburn. Back in Australia, she would soothe that sunburn by rubbing cut cucumber over her skin. The juices would ease the sunburn. This time around, she was unlucky. The cucumber she used was more acidic than the ones she was used to and she ended up with a really nasty acid burn.

Now that we've covered those aspects of homemade facials, let's turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

Though cucumber is soothing, cucumber contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids as do most fruit and some of the other ingredients used in homemade beauty recipes.

You see, in home made skin care, the exact chemical makeup of the ingredients you use may vary, leading to unpleasant results if you are unfortunate. That is why, every time you make any facial mask, test it on the inside of your wrist first, before you let that mask touch your face.

I was lucky. The lemon facial I did helped clear my skin by killing the bacteria, without burning my skin. The pharmacist said I was fool hardy. As did my cousin who has been making her own beauty products for years already.

Lemon can thin the skin. It is so acidic. The pharmacist thought the other things, like the almond meal I mixed with the lemon juice helped neutralize the extreme acidity. Also, when I used freshly squeezed lemon juice directly on my face, I would dilute it with water first.

Yet the books I read with home made beauty recipes often include lemon in their recipes. After all, lemon has lightening properties. Lemon juice is often used to lighten freckles. Lemon was even recommended in a book by a former model, for use as a toner.

Not all ingredients are that dangerous though. Oats is an excellent ingredient for use in soothing facials. That was recommended to me by a doctor. For my toddler's rash. Cooked oats in a bag in the bath water is a home remedy to soothe itchy skin. Here is a facial that uses oats and rose water. http://www.womanht.com/facials/RoseOatsFacial.htm .

A home made face mask can be as simple as putting some mash fruit your face. http://www.womanht.com/facials/fruity_facials_tried_and_tested.htm outlines such experiments with fruit.

Different skin types require different ingredients. Dry skin can use richer, nourishing ingredients. Really dry skin would love the moisturizing effect of sweet almond oil or olive oil. Oily skin, on the other hand would break out in pimples if you try massaging these oils on your face. What works for your best friend may be disastrous on you.

The easiest thing to do nowadays is to simply buy a great mask for your skin type off the shelf for your home facial. I use commercial masks these days after some disastrous experiments trying to find new ingredients for new home made facial masks for my site. The successful facials were published at http://www.womanht.com/facials/ .

What exactly is Jojoba oil and why is it used so much in skin care products?

What Women want is to be Beautiful

Skin Care using Jojoba Oil

Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about jojoba oil? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about jojoba oil.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about jojoba oil, be sure and read this skin care report.

Back in 1822, a small shrub was discovered in the desert near Baja California by a botanist named H. F. Link. Mr. Link named this new plant after a fellow botanist from the UK named T. W. Simmonds.

The proper named of the Jojoba plant is Simmondsia chinensis. It wasn't until after the US banned whale hunting that this plant started to be cultivated. Up until then, the oil of whales was used in skin care products and cosmetics. After the ban, much research was done to find more suitable replacements for the skin and hair care industries.

Jojoba amounts to a hill of beans!!

The Jojoba plant produces a bean pod and it was discovered that heating the beans caused an oil to be secreted. The desert peoples of Southern California and Mexico had long been using this oil to treat skin conditions and cuts.

The Japanese did some research on Jojoba oil and found it to be nontoxic to the human skin. In addition, soon it was known the amazing properties of this oil.

Jojoba oil is actually a wax that is liquid at room temperatures. The 'oil' has similar chemical makeup to the sebum oil that our skin produces naturally. In fact, it is one of the most easily absorbed vegetable oils available today. Because of this, it was soon used to produce all kinds of hair and skin care products.

The oil is wonderful for people who suffer from sensitive skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. It helps soften your skin and when applied to your hair will increase its shine. It is also known to help reduce wrinkles and other lines associated with aging. In addition, it helps promote the growth of new skin cells. It even has some antibacterial qualities too.

Because of these amazing properties, there is no wonder it is being used in the manufacturing of all kinds of hair products, replenishing skin care products, wrinkle reduction treatments, acne control products and even cosmetics. You can find the oil for sale individually too. A 4 oz bottle can be purchased for as little as $8 and can be used to make your own moisturizing cream at home.

Take your favorite essential oil, such as lavender, and add 40 to 50 drops to a 4 oz bottle. Apply to liberally to your skin and rub until it has been absorbed.

The Jojoba plant was an important and necessary discovery. Its amazing properties help people all over the world look better, feel better about themselves and helps people who suffer from disabilitating skin conditions. If you purchase it, look for organically grown Jojoba oil and make sure it is pressed and not chemically extracted.

If you've picked some pointers about jojoba oil that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

Now that wasn't hard at all, was it? And you've earned a wealth of knowledge about facial skin care, just from taking some time to study an expert's word on homemade facials.

Is Your Eye Shadow Right for You?

Does Your Eye Shadow have POP?

Choose Your Eye Shadow Wisely

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite intrigued to find some of the facts you will learn here about eye shadow.

Eye Shadow & the Fashion Model

If you are heading off to a session and are going to apply your own makeup, consider these points about eye shadow first. Yes, all stages of makeup application are important for fashion or glamour models but eye shadow undoubtedly plays a very important role in you final choices of cosmetics when posing for pictures.

Eye Shadow - Past and Present

I can remember what people dressed like when I was young. It was the seventies, and I remember the tight T-shirts and the bell-bottoms quite well.

I also remember that a lot of high school girls wore blue eye shadow and their eyes always seemed to be larger than life to me.

If you look at fashion trends and cosmetic changes through the years, and the fashion or glamour models of a certain decade, you may realize that it’s not just about the clothes the models are wearing in pictures. You can sometimes date a photo by just looking at the eye shadow.

The eye shadow and makeup progressions have changed tremendously through the years just like clothing trends. If you don’t believe me, just look at photos of girls and women taken in the eighties. The ways in which they applied their makeup was the sign of the times, and when the nineties rolled around, many people stopped wearing as much.

The models eye shadow went from wild to muted, if it was worn at all. Every year I find out a new color is in, but in reality, you can’t just wear any old color if you want to look fantastic in your model photos.

Just because everyone is wearing gobs of blue, that does not mean that you have to wear it, or that you should be wearing it. My dear mother always used that old saying; "If everybody jumped off a cliff does that mean you have to jump too?"

How can you put a limit on learning more about eye makeup? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that will surprise you about your eyes.

Eye Shadows to make Your Eyes "POP"

Did you know you can wear certain colors of eye shadow that will make your eyes pop?

If your eyes are hazel for instance, but they usually look green then you can make them stand out by wearing purple eye shadow, and sometimes you may add a little green to it.

This effect works very well! You could definitely wear brown with your hazel eyes, but they would not pop like they do when when you apply the purple.

There are colors of eye shadow that will do this for every eye color out there, though you may have to experiment until you find the one that works best for you. Put on your eye shadow, close your eyes while standing in front of your mirror, then open them suddenly. Do you see pop or flop? You be the judge.

Eye Shadow doesn't have to Cost a Fortune to Look Good!

How much did you spend on your eye shadow the last time you went to a model photo session?

You really don’t have to spend a fortune on your eye shadow, but the ones that cost a little more do tend to stay in place on your eyelids a little longer. Honestly though, I have seen both expensive and inexpensive brands of eye shadow that work well for my fashion models and stay in place for the entire shooting.

There is nothing worse than your make up running down your face when you are out in public or at an important model portfolio session. Make sure you get one that stays put as that might be the most attractive look of all. The color you choose is not important if the eye shadow is all over your face! When it comes to eye shadow and looking fantastic in your images, don't splurge or skimp on money.

My final tidbit of advice is to be sure you buy eye shadow that suits you and will compliment your eyes; not because everyone else is wearing it. You will be happy you made the right choice!

When word gets around about your command of eye shadow facts, others who need to know about eye shadow will start to actively seek you out.

Can't go wrong with a Dior Product!
This is the first time i have used a Dior concealer, I use several other Dior products and they never fail! I actually chose this concealer based on a review from another Amazon customer! The concealer is perfect, it smells great, it's subtle, it does lift, especially around the eyes, however also conceals blemishes just fine. The best part is a little bit goes a long way, which is good, because it comes in a very small tube! Beware, the lighter shades are very light!!!

It Lifts! It Smooths!
This product really does what it says - it lifts and smooths, and conceals too. It's the best concealer I've tried, and I've tried many. One note though - the lightest shade is very light. I have very fair skin and found it to be too white, so I exchanged it for the 2nd shade, which would also work well on fair to medium skin.

PERFECT!
This stuff is amazing. I use "Candle Light" underneath my eyes and around my brows. It makes my eyes look picture perfect all day long. It's especially beautiful in sunlight - really makes my blue eyes pop!

Get RID of the racoon eyes!
I've suffered most of my life from the "dark circle" syndrome. It's become much worse at nearly 35 years old with FOUR kids! A dear friend in the industry (my personal guru!) recommended this. It is NOTHING short of AMAZING! I wear it with just a tinted face lotion (foundation makes our wrinkles stand out as I now know) and once in a while a quick dust of bare minerals clear mineral veil. My husband commented (in only two days, which is a RECORD for him) that I must have slept well because my face looked so good. This stuff is SOOOO worth the price. I'll NEVER be without it again!!

Perfection!!!
I'm 26 and have used every brand of foundation in search of "THE ONE". When makeup is concerned, you truely get what you pay for. I've used foundations I liked, but never loved. I want a light non-sticky consistency, medium coverage, and a cream to powder finish that doesn't look chalky. This foundation meets and exceeds my expectations. It goes on with a featherlike weight and softness. It turns to a velvety powder that looks so soft and natural, its like the skin I had as a young child. It's not "your makeup looks great", its "your skin looks great". The name is not an overstatement in the least. As for the price, well worth it. How much money do most women spend during years worth of buying and trying out foundations? This is your foundation and powder all in one. A little goes a long way. I highly recommend it!!!!!!

you can do better than that
3 positives, you will need to use VERY little to cover your face, so it will last a long time. The color I chose matched very well. And it does last pretty much all day. Under hot, sweaty summer conditions, maybe one reapply. I just don't think it does all it claims. It's not some "miracle in a bottle". I will be 40 soon and I appreciate the SPF 20 which is higher than alot of makeup.I have mild melasma from my last 2 pregnancies and it shows thru this makeup. I think for 20 dollars less you are better off with Clinique Dewy smooth for coverage, or Borghese for age defying. This is a rather dry matte makeup. Better for someone without dry skin. I won't throw it out, but I won't buy it again.

Accentuated LInes
Another disappointment. I don't have a lot of lines, but for the few I do have, I thought this stuff would make me look perfect. NOT! It actually accentuated my fine lines. It is also really heavy and you can't see your skin through it. I'm too lazy to send it back, so I'll put it in my collection of foundations.

SO Beautiful, SO Worth It
This is quite simply the most beautiful foundation I've ever used. What I was looking for was a foundation that was medium to full coverage, but natural looking. Almost impossible, right? Nope, that's what this one does!

I'm in my early twenties (not your typical user for a line-smoothing, lifting makeup) with acne-prone, combination skin and big, Italian pores, some redness, blotchiness, uneven skin tone. I was a little taken back when I first used this foundation . . . I used the pump (very cool feature) to put a couple of drops on the back of my hand and swirl it on my foundation brush (MAC makes the best foundation brush). After I went over my problem areas and blended a little bit with my fingers, I almost couldn't look in the mirror because I wasn't used to my skin looking that perfect! On top of that, it didn't even look like I was wearing makeup (Makeup looks best if you exfoliate first. Lush's Ocean Salt Cleanser is PERFECT for this)!

I've recently got my mother hooked on this, as well. She told me my skin looked really good and she didn't even know I had makeup on! My husband has also complimented me on my skin, scratching his head and wondering where my breakouts went. This foundation has not caused me any new breakouts and does a great job of covering up the redness around my nose and smoothing out my pores.

Also, I'm Italian and I have a medium-light skin tone with some olive, some red, some yellow . . . just an overall strange combo. The Peach shade works well for me. Don't be thrown off by the name, I don't find it to be orange in the least. This foundation also blends very well and seems to adjust to the color of your skin for a seamless finish. I'd swear it was "smart" makeup with some sort of "Color Match" technology!

I'm in love with this product! You get your money's worth . . . the pump assures that you don't waste any and the bottle lasts for a very long time. A little goes a long way. I did extensive research on different foundations before I settled on this one . . . and I'm SO glad I did!!!Dior DiorSkin Sculpt Line-Smoothing Lifting Makeup SPF 20
